  • Monroe planned and implemented for The Breeze in February 2009. Readers of The Breeze submitted Valentine’s Day messages, or “Breezentines,” that appeared in the February 12th issue of The Breeze. The event got readers involved with the product, and Monroe was able to interact with publics on an interpersonal level.

  • Monroe has developed two other campaigns for non-profit organizations in Harrisonburg:
  1. Advertising plan for Cat’s Cradle. This plan was done by a group of five students for a class project during fall 2008 using the strategic planning process. Monroe co-wrote the goals, objectives and message;  conducted audience research and correlated it; contacted local churches and set up various advertising media at each location; and she created the corner advertisements and copy text to appear in church bulletins.
  2. Marketing campaign and event for the American Shakespeare Center aimed at college students. Monroe implemented the campaign and planned a dinner-with-the-actors pre-show and post-show event during the fall of 2008 for a marketing internship.
  • Monroe also has experience in the corporate environment after spending two summers working at Chevy Chase Bank in Bethesda, Md.

She worked in the Human Resources Department in summer 2007 doing internal communication work with  prospective employees and recruiters. She also worked directly with external consumer markets as a customer service representative during summer 2008.

  • While Monroe has secured a job for the upcoming academic year, she is still in search of a challenging and creative communications internship for summer 2009.
